We have a public Google Calendar called to help you figuring out if there is some interesting related activity going to happen in a place near you. The calendar's widget will be placed on the main page soonish.
The calendar is open: anyone can join and invite other people, but we close its editing for security reasons. Thus if you are planning something interesting, do let us know, and we'll add it in a flash.
What we need to know to make calendar entry useful is:
1. Date and time
2. Name
3. Location
4. Description, an URL of full info about the event.
Example:
1. May 26-29, 2010.
2. Libre Graphics Meeting
3. Piano Fabric, Brussels, Belgium
4. Annual conference for GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus, Fontmatrix, Blender etc. developers and users. See for details.
If you can add an URL to Google Maps — even better.
Events that are definitely worth adding to the calendar:
- conferences where libre graphics developers participate;
- exhibitions where various teams have booths;
- seminars and courses.
We are not sure if we want adding informal user meetings and what the signal/noise ratio would be. We'll just wait and see
