Two new DVD courses by Blender Foundation available for preorder

Great news ahead! Two new DVD courses are available for preorder at Blender Foundation's e-shop: "Blend & Paint" course by David Revoy on 3D paint-over techniques with Blender, GIMP Painter and MyPaint, and "Blenderella" by Angela Guenette on polygon modeling techniques with focus on topology.

As the official description states, David's new course introduces the basics of the UI, modeling meshes and setting up light and rendering. This render is then taken to MyPaint and GIMP for further processing, importing and setting up several layers and showing how to efficiently add detail, texture and more dramatic lighting with manual paint-overs and layering techniques.

David Revoy is experienced CG artists who worked on illustrations for many books and games and was art director for Sintel short animation movie. You can read our interview with him here.

As for "Blenderella", the course by Angela Guenette explains her approach on modeling a character within Blender 2.5. She demonstrates the tools used in Blender and techniques on how to create efficient topology with clean edge flow. This will facilitate the creation of facial and body deformations for rigging and animation use.


Angela has a background in fine arts and since 2000 worked on a variety of CG Animated Feature Films, DVD Movies, Television Series, and most recently the independent animated short film, Sintel. She has worked in Blender, Maya, XSI, Softimage3D, Gimp, and Photoshop. Some of her professional credits include Everyones Hero, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, Popeye’s Voyage, Barbie on Swan Lake, Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie in the Nutcracker, Max Steel, Heavy Gear.

Both courses are avialable with a discount for preorder till April 15, the shipping will start mid-April.
