TVPaint Animation ported to Android

TVPaint Animation ported to Android

Developers of TVPaint Animation announced a beta version of the application for Android based tablets. TVPaint is a commercial animation tool for Linux, Windows and Mac.

The current beta works, looks and behaves pretty much like the stock v10 app, with no adjustments made for tablet-specifics such as multitouch or simplified UI. This is mostly because it's the result of a quick portability test which the team really wanted to share with the world.

This version isn't officially supported, but the team encourages you to report any bugs you run into. There are two restrictions:

  1. You are not supposed to make money using this beta version (saving/exporting works).
  2. The beta can only be used till November 1, 2012.

The app needs a tablet device like HTC Flyer with a stylus and support for pressure sensitivity. Downloading of the beta requires a registration.

TVPaint Animation 10 was released in early December 2011 with official Linux support and since then remains one of the very few production-ready animation tools for this OS.

  1. this is wonderful!

One of a rare software developer to recognize advantage of being true multiplatform supporter. once having funds definitely buying this software! What could be better to be able to use same tool on Linux, Windows, mac and a tablet running android?

  2. Awesome. that software is really good…. although most people can’t afford it sadly. It’s more sad that the krita animation plugin was totally abandoned without a word. Good news though. Maybe one day i’ll get enough cash to invest in some good software for painterly animation.

  3. Is there any way to find the old version of this android app?
