Storytelling at VIEW Conference 2013
How many times have we heard directors, animators, and visual effects artists say that the most important element in filmmaking is the story?
VIEW 2013 gives artists working in digital media an inside look at storytelling through workshops and presentations by renowned professionals.
Javier Jimenez co-founded the studio Mirada with director Guillermo del Toro, director Mathew Cullen and director of photography Guillermo Navarro in December 2010 and has since collaborated with some of the leading creative minds across feature film, television, advertising and literature.
Company co-founder Jimenez will discuss what being a ‘studio for storytellers’ means in the era of transmedia storytelling, highlighting projects that range from creating the 2-minute prologue sequence for “Pacific Rim” to a living storybook in the form the MirrorWorld iPad App developed with bestselling author Cornelia Funke.
David Misch author of “Funny: The Book / Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Comedy” has been a comic folksinger, stand-up comedian, and screenwriter. His credits include the multiple-Emmy- nominated “Mork and Mindy”, the Emmy-losing “Duckman”, the Emmy-ignored “Police Squad!”, the Emmy-engorged “Saturday Night Live”, and the Emmy-ineligible “The Muppets Take Manhattan.”

The software that changed the way Sony Pictures Imageworks have created more than 15 animation projects since 2008 is now being taken up by numerous animation studios around the world. Yiotis will demonstrate the creative and technical barriers FLIX helps.
Stephan Franck is currently directing the mini-movie “The Smurfs: The Legend of Smurfy Hollow” for Sony Pictures Animation, which was selected for official competition at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and is set to debut around the world in Fall 2013.
