Some notes on changes in the project

For a number of purely technical reasons we had been considering switching CMS for a while and finally did so. Here is what's left behind and what's coming.

First of all, the forum hasn't been really active, so we make migration of its content the lowest priority. Currently we do not have plans to put a lot of efforts into that.

The software directory was a bit more popular, hence it has a higher priority. We have some ideas how to make it better than before, it'll just take some time to get it done. And thus we are coming to news and tutorials.

As you may have noticed, we already changed approach to news writing a while back. There are no more silly oneliners, and it is going to stay that way. Starting this month there will be more interviews (which you also may have noticed), and we are opening a new section called "Tips & Tricks" to share all kinds of useful ideas and findings of purely practical use regarding GIMP, Inkscape and whatnot. Think of it as of mini-tutorials.

The migration of existing content wasn't quite smooth, and there are some loose ends in templates as well (most notoriously, tags filtering). We intend to fix all those issues one by one. We just really wanted to make the switch to get going with new ideas.

Finally, at some point user registration will be back. For now you can freely comment :)

@David Rylander It’s in the plans, just low priority right now. Thanks for reminder anyway. I’ll see how much work it is and whether it could be done any fast. Do you have some particular wishes for layout and functionality?
