Christmas releases of applications keep coming. This time Shotwell, a GNOME photo manager, was updated. Christmas releases of applications keep coming. This time Shotwell, a GNOME photo manager, was updated.

What's inside:

  • support for video files recorded with digital photo cameras, assigning events and tags to them;
  • publishing video files on popular Web 2.0 services including YouTube, Flickr, Facebook and PicasaWeb;
  • Shotwell now watches Pictures directory for new images and automatically adds them to the library;
  • the application can now write metadata as a background task;
  • you can now mark multiple pictures for batch processing;
  • multiple photos can now be sent to desktop wallpaper slideshow in GNOME;
  • various bugfixes, localization updates.
As usual you can either download and build source code of Shotwell and gexiv2, a wrapper for metadata library it uses, or easily install the application from an Ubuntu PPA.
