Contrary to his promises :), Thomas Sharpless released a new version of his interactive panorama viewer Panini.

 

Changes:

• new Overlay function that overlays a fixed image, with adjustable transparency, on the view; this is useful for matching the view to a reference such as a drawing, a painting or another photograph.
• new Recenter function which is provides an alternative viewing mode, in the Presets menu: the eye point can be placed anywhere inside the panosphere, and the view
  rotates around the eye point instead of the panosphere center; this gives views similar to recentered equirectangular projections.
• the keyboard and mouse view controls are more rational and convenient.
