Open Asset Import Library gets Blender files support

The second stable version of Open Asset Import Library has just been released with some new features and bugfixes. This C++ library focuses on support for 3D and gaming file formats.

Naturally there are some changes in support for file formats: static Blender (*.blend) scenes are now supported as well as Q3BSP scenes, with Ogre XML loader improved and numerous fixes to Collada support.

The other major changes are:

  • newly added C# bindings;
  • significantly improved performance (up to 500%) in some expensive postprocessing steps;
  • improved user interface in AssimpView;
  • an experimental progress feedback interface;
  • various bugfixes.
