Gpick 0.2.4 released with improvements and fixes

Albertas Vyšniauskas released new version of Gpick, a color picker with built-in color scheme generator, that we covered recently. This new version features a number of improvements as well as fixes.

Firts of all, Albertas isn't the only contributor now: two of the new features have been implemented by a new developer. These feature are:

  • using LAB color space in "Mix Colors" tool for smoother transitions between different hues;
  • hotkeys for common actions: Ctrl+p for activating the picker, 1..6 for switching between comparison colors (the color "daisy" on the first tab), Alt+k,g,o for switching between tabs in main window.

Additionally HSV to RGB converter was fixed, CSV converter was added, various usability improvements were introduced.

Apart from source code you can download 32bit and 64bit packages for Ubuntu, but bear in mind that there already is an issue in the tracker on wrong dependencies in those packages, so a fix is possible. An updated Windows installer is still due to be released.

  1. How can I install it on Fedora 13, I have downloaded the source tarball already.

  2. OK, I found install instruction at:
    gpick_0.2.2 would not compile, but gpick_-.2.4 worked OK.

  3. gpick_0.2.4 worked.

  4. Ah, great :) Happy gpicking :)

  5. I cannot achieve compiling, as scons returns the following messages:
    scons: Reading SConscript files ...
    Checking for dbus-glib-1 >= 0.76… (cached) yes
    Checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.12.0… (cached) yes
    scons: done reading SConscript files.
    scons: Building targets ...
    Compiling ==> build/source/version/Version.o
    g++: erreur: non: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
    g++: erreur: versionné: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
    scons: *** [build/source/version/Version.o] Error 1
    scons: building terminated because of errors.

    Any idea hos I could solve this problem?
