ParaType releases PT Serif, a new free libre typeface

ParaType, a Moscow based type foundry, has just announced release of its new free libre typeface called PT Serif. Just like PT Sans, the first ParaType's libre font released exactly a year ago, the new typeface is sponsored by Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications.

Canonical finally made preliminary versions of its own font family public. The Ubuntu font family, part of new Ubuntu brand, is developed by type designers from Dalton Maag.

Beta version of Gentium Plus fonts is available

SIL International and Victor Gaultney released beta version of their excellent font family called Gentium. This release is the first significant update in last eight years, and the amount of changes was large enough to rename the family to Gentium Plus (please note this page will expire in a while when the final version is released).
